2026 Houston Texans Roster
The Texans enter the season with C.J. Stroud as the centerpiece of the offense. Houston selected Stroud with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and his development remains one of the biggest storylines surrounding the franchise.
Other important names to watch include:
- C.J. Stroud — Quarterback
- Derek Stingley Jr. — Cornerback
- Will Anderson Jr. — Edge rusher
- Ka’imi Fairbairn — Kicker
- Dalton Schultz — Tight end
- Tank Dell — Wide receiver
- David Montgomery — Running back
- Wyatt Teller — Guard
The official Texans roster provides the latest active-player information, including Stroud, Stingley Jr., Teller, Cade Stover and other current members of the team.
Houston’s defensive identity is another major storyline. The Texans’ 2026 preseason coverage has emphasized an elite defense and the team’s development under Ryans.
C.J. Stroud: The Biggest Offensive Storyline
Stroud enters another important stage of his NFL career. The Texans’ official site notes that he was the No. 2 overall selection in 2023 and highlights his early success, including a rookie season with 4,108 passing yards.
The 2026 season is therefore about more than individual statistics. Houston needs Stroud to operate efficiently, protect the football and consistently deliver in high-pressure games against AFC contenders.
DeMeco Ryans and the Texans Defense
Head coach DeMeco Ryans remains central to Houston’s long-term plans. Ryans was hired in January 2023 and is entering his fourth season as the Texans’ head coach.
The defense has become one of the team’s defining characteristics, giving Houston a foundation that can keep games competitive while the offense develops.
2026 Texans Season Predictions
Projected Record: 11-6
Prediction: 11-6 and a playoff berth.
This projection assumes Houston stays relatively healthy and receives continued improvement from Stroud and the offense.
The schedule presents several difficult stretches. Houston faces Dallas, the Chargers, Ravens, Steelers, Eagles and Packers, while AFC South games against Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Tennessee could determine the division race.
The Texans have enough talent to compete for the AFC South and potentially host a playoff game. The biggest question is whether the offense can consistently match the team’s defensive capabilities.
Best-Case Scenario
If Stroud takes another major step, the offensive line performs well and the defense remains among the AFC’s better units, Houston could challenge for a 12- or 13-win season and a high AFC playoff seed.
Biggest Concern
The primary concern is consistency. A demanding second half includes the Chargers, Browns, Colts, Ravens, Steelers, Commanders, Jaguars, Eagles and Packers. That stretch could determine whether Houston wins the AFC South or enters the postseason as a wild-card team.
