Boots in the Park just went from a big Albuquerque weekend to a destination country festival. Promoters announced that George Strait will headline the 2027 edition at Balloon Fiesta Park, joined by Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Zach Top, Jon Pardi, and more artists still to be named.
The dates: Friday, May 14 through Sunday, May 16, 2027. That’s a three-day expansion after the 2026 Albuquerque stop drew more than 60,000 fans. Official tickets and presale registration live at bootsinthepark.com and the Albuquerque event hub at events.bootsinthepark.com/abq.
Strait’s booking is the story. Organizers and his own posts have framed it as a return to New Mexico “one final time.” It will be his first New Mexico show since 2013 and his first festival set since 2021. Local reports also say the Albuquerque weekend is his only festival date on the books for 2027. He turns 75 on May 18, two days after the last note.
“New Mexico, it’s been way too long. While I’m not sure where else this next year will take us, I do know we can’t wait to see everyone at Boots In The Park next May.” — George Strait
Activated Events CEO Steve Thacher called the bill “three generations of country music” on one field: Strait and Brooks & Dunn for the classics, Aldean for the arena-country era, Pardi and Top for the current traditional wave.
Boots in the Park New Mexico tickets: when they go on sale
| Window | Date / time | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Presale | Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 — 10 a.m. MT | bootsinthepark.com |
| General on-sale | Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 — 10 a.m. MT | Official site |
Register for presale access on the festival site before Thursday. Expect weekend GA, single-day GA, VIP weekend, a higher “King’s Club” or similar VIP tier, hotel packages, and separate parking passes — the same structure used for recent Albuquerque editions. 2026 weekend GA opened around $249 all-in and VIP around $459 all-in, with prices climbing by tier as inventory sold. 2027 prices will lock at checkout; treat last year’s numbers as a floor, not a guarantee. Buy strategy
- Create your festival account and payment method before 10 a.m. MT on Sept. 10.
- Decide weekend vs. single-day first. A Strait headlining night will be the first to vanish.
- If you want shade, closer rails, or express entry, jump to VIP immediately — those tiers sell in waves.
- Add parking in the same session. On-site lots at Balloon Fiesta Park sell separately and get ugly on a 60,000-person weekend.
- After on-sale, compare official leftovers against verified resale. Face value first.
If primary inventory is gone, use only platforms with buyer protection. Festival wristbands and mobile tickets are usually emailed about two weeks out.
The announced 2027 lineup (more names coming)
George Strait
The headliner and the reason this weekend will sell like a stadium date. King of Country catalog: “Amarillo by Morning,” “Check Yes or No,” “The Chair,” “Ocean Front Property.” Limited live calendar makes two or three festival sets feel like a tour stop.
Jason Aldean
ACM Artist of the Decade (2010s), 30-plus No. 1s, “Dirt Road Anthem,” “She’s Country,” “You Make It Easy.” Stadium-scale production on a festival field.
Brooks & Dunn
Best-selling country duo ever. “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “Neon Moon,” “My Maria,” “Brand New Man.” A New Mexico crowd that already two-steps will treat this like a second headliner.
Zach Top
The traditional-country surge act fans are chasing right now. If you missed him on smaller stages, this is the “see him before the rooms get even bigger” slot.
Jon Pardi
Honky-tonk modern classic: “Heartache Medication,” “Night Shift,” “Dirt on My Boots.” He’s already played this Albuquerque franchise; a Strait-weekend return is a different scale.
More acts will drop before May. Don’t wait on the full poster if you specifically need Strait.
Balloon Fiesta Park: what ticket buyers need to know
Venue: Balloon Fiesta Park, 5000 Balloon Fiesta Parkway NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113. Location and past-year FAQs: events.bootsinthepark.com/Location-info.
Format: Outdoor festival field. Expect multiple stages plus activations organizers say return in 2027: line dancing and lessons, whiskey tasting, cornhole, mechanical bull, cooking demos, plus branded zones like the Whiskey Barrel Saloon, Cactus Cantina, and Country Club Dance Hall.
Age: Typically all-ages. Kids under 5 have been free GA with a paying parent/guardian on recent editions. 21+ to drink, with a real ID.
Parking: Standard, preferred, oversized, and ADA lots. Preferred lots have been exit-only after about 9:30 p.m. Buy the pass with your ticket. A parking pass is not a festival ticket.
Re-entry: Confirm on the 2027 FAQ when it updates. Past Albuquerque weekends have limited in-and-out.
Weather: Mid-May in Albuquerque can swing from hot afternoons to cool, windy nights. Hat, sunscreen, layers, closed-toe boots. The field is dirt/grass — not a paved amphitheater.
Getting there: I-25 to Alameda or Paseo del Norte, then Balloon Fiesta Parkway. Rideshare and shuttle details usually post closer to the event. Hotel packages on the official ticket page are the cleanest way to avoid game-day rate spikes.
Why this weekend is different from a normal Boots stop
Boots in the Park is a traveling country brand, but Albuquerque has become the Southwest flagship. 2026 already jumped to a two-day closer with Post Malone and Jelly Roll. 2027 adds a third day and Strait. That is not a support-slot announcement. That is a “plan the trip now” announcement.
Day-by-day set times are not out. When they drop, Strait will own the closing slot people actually fly for. Aldean and Brooks & Dunn will fight for the other prime nights. Top and Pardi will stack the late-afternoon / early-evening demand.
Until the daily grid is public, a weekend pass is the only way to guarantee you are on-site whenever Strait walks out.
