Phish is closing 2026 and opening 2027 at Madison Square Garden. The four-night New Year’s run is December 30 and 31, 2026, plus January 1 and 2, 2027. The January 2 show is the band’s 100th at the Garden. A ticket request is open now at tickets.phish.com through Monday, October 12 at noon ET. Public tickets go on sale Friday, October 16 at noon ET.
This is the standard Phish holiday stand, with one extra hook. The run ends on the milestone night, not New Year’s Eve. Fans who only chase December 31 will miss the show the announcement is built around.
The dates and the 100th show
Phish confirmed the run on October 7, 2026. The band’s own post, PHISH: 100 AT THE GARDEN, sets the nights as December 30–31 and January 1–2, and names January 2 as show number 100 at Madison Square Garden. Pollstar’s write-up is here. Consequence’s ticket timeline is here.
The band also posted a short film on the Garden staff who have worked the shows for years: announcement video. Phish’s first MSG concert was December 30, 1994. In the 32 years since, the room has held multi-night stands, 17 New Year’s runs, and the 13-night Baker’s Dozen in 2017. Live For Live Music’s recap of that history is here.
Nothing in the announcement says these four nights are a farewell, a reunion, or a change in lineup. Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell, and Jon Fishman are booked for the run. Setlists, gag themes, and whether January 2 gets a special staging have not been announced. Past New Year’s shows at the Garden have carried the production budget. The 100th is the night most likely to do it again, which is why that date will lead demand even against December 31.
How to request tickets
The mail-order-style request is the face-value path. It is open now and closes Monday, October 12 at noon ET.
- Request tickets: tickets.phish.com
- Public onsale: Friday, October 16 at noon ET, via Ticketmaster
- Travel packages (hotel plus tickets): Thursday, October 8 at noon ET at phishnye.100xhospitality.com
Enter the request before the deadline even if you only want one night. Phish lotteries often fulfill a subset of shows, not the whole run. Rank the nights you will actually attend. January 2 is the 100th show. December 31 is New Year’s Eve. Both will be the hardest pulls. December 30 and January 1 are the better odds if your budget is fixed.
A request is not a purchase. You are charged only if you are allocated tickets. Read the charge window and the transfer rules on the request page before you submit. After October 12, the next face-value shot is the October 16 public onsale. Have a Ticketmaster account, a saved card, and a max all-in price ready before noon ET. Do not pick seats while the timer is running.
Travel packages go on sale a day after the announcement, on October 8. They bundle a room with tickets and suit fans coming from outside New York. Compare the package total with a separate hotel plus a lottery seat before you commit. Midtown rates around New Year’s are already high. A bundle can be cheaper, or it can hide a soft ticket location. Check the section before you pay.
No face-value range was posted with the announcement. MSG Phish nights, especially New Year’s, reprice quickly on resale once the lottery results land. Primary tickets remain the number that matters. After October 16, compare all-in totals, delivery method, and whether the barcode actually transfers into your account.
Madison Square Garden, in practical terms
MSG lists capacity at about 19,500 for concerts, depending on the setup. Phish configurations usually put the stage at one end, with floor, lower bowl (100s), and upper bowl (200s). The 100s are the premium ask. The 200s are the realistic face-value seats if you lose the lottery and still want in. The venue’s visitor pages cover entry, bags, and access: Madison Square Garden.
New Year’s Eve at the Garden is a transit night, not a driving night. The 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q, R, and W trains all land within a short walk of 7th Avenue and 33rd Street. Penn Station is directly below the building. Rideshare pickup zones clog after the encore. Plan the subway out, especially on December 31, when street closures around Times Square stack on top of the Garden exit.
Bag policy is small and clear. A clutch or a clear bag is the safe bet. Mobile tickets in the Ticketmaster or Phish account are the expected entry method. Download them before you lose signal in Penn Station. Screenshot tickets are not a backup.
What not to assume
January 2 is the 100th Phish show at MSG. It is not a promise of a special guest, a full album set, or a gag on the scale of past New Year’s productions. Those have happened. They are not confirmed for this run. December 31 and January 2 are different shows. Buying one does not get you the other.
The request period ends October 12 at noon ET. The public onsale is October 16 at noon ET. Missing both means resale, and resale on a Phish New Year’s run at the Garden is where casual buyers overpay for obstructed or late-release seats. If you want the 100th gig at a sane price, the request form is the whole strategy.
