John Mayer just locked six nights at Sphere in Las Vegas for April 2027 — his first Sphere headline run apart from Dead & Company. Dates are April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18. Each show is built as three sets in one night: solo, full band, and the John Mayer Trio.

What the show actually is
Mayer already helped design Dead & Company’s Dead Forever run at Sphere. This is different: his catalog, his staging, three formats in one evening.
- Solo: Mayer alone — acoustic first, with piano and electric segments.
- Full band: the large touring band (lineup not fully named in the announcement).
- John Mayer Trio: Mayer, drummer Steve Jordan, bassist Pino Palladino.
Expect Continuum-era hits, Trio blues, and Sphere-scale visuals. Do not expect a Dead set.

Why “selling fast” is not hype
Sphere is a 17,500-ish capacity room with a brutal seat map. Lower bowl and the best haptic sections disappear in artist presale. Dead Forever and later Sphere residencies trained buyers to hit queues early and accept dynamic pricing.
Six dates is a short run. Compare that with Eagles adding into 2027 or Metallica stretching a full season. If Mayer adds nights, it will be after these six are gone — not before.
How to get a cheaper seat
- Register today. An Oct. 7 code is worth more than refreshing StubHub in April.
- Thursday first. April 8 and April 15 should be the softest maps if you want $129–mid tier.
- Compare after fees. Ticketmaster all-in, SeatGeek, StubHub, and Capital City Tickets rank differently once service fees hit.
- Skip “best available.” Filter by price. Upper 300s and far 200s are where face value still exists after the first drop.
- Hotel package math. Vibee only wins if Venetian cash rates that weekend are ugly. Price the ticket and hotel separately before you bundle.
- Mobile only. Sphere is app entry. Screenshot barcodes fail. Use official transfer.
- Watch the 48-hour dump. Unused VIP and travelers who miss flights relist right before doors. That is often cheaper than week-of panic buys — but only on verified marketplaces.
Sphere practicalities
- Venue: Sphere, connected to The Venetian.
- Rideshare: Lyft is an official Sphere partner; the pickup maze is still a post-show bottleneck.
- Parking: Venetian / Palazzo garages. Budget time, not just money.
- Bags: Small clear-bag rules. Check Sphere’s current policy before you fly.
- Haptics: Some seats include the venue’s 4D effects. If you want that, do not buy the cheapest upper corner without checking the map key.
