Heavy metal fans, rejoice—Ozzfest is officially making its triumphant return in 2027! Sharon Osbourne, the festival’s founder and legendary music manager, confirmed the revival during a panel at MIDEM 2026 in Cannes, France, on February 6, 2026. In her candid conversation with Download Festival’s Andy Copping, Sharon declared, “Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we’re gonna do it.”
The last full Ozzfest took place in 2018—a one-day event at The Forum in Los Angeles—just weeks before Ozzy Osbourne fell seriously ill. There were no plans to end the iconic touring festival; it was paused due to Ozzy’s health battles. Sharon revealed heartfelt discussions with Ozzy about its future: He questioned if Ozzfest could thrive without him onstage. Her response? “Yeah, it’s a brand. It will work without you.” Ozzy reportedly replied, “We should do it.”
This revival honors Ozzy’s passion for spotlighting new talent—Ozzfest pioneered U.S. metal festivals as a “summer camp for kids,” giving emerging bands massive exposure alongside legends. Sharon emphasized this spirit will carry forward, even expanding beyond strict rock/metal boundaries in talks with Live Nation (mentioned in her January 2026 Billboard interview).
